Results from the RR10 at Marwell on 21st June 2023.
A good turnout of 46 runners for Totton (25 men, 19 women). Congratulations to Keith Collier on completing his first RR10 for Totton. Welcome back to Esther Hardie who last ran an RR10 in 2019.
Another warm evening for the first RR10 at Marwell since 2016. Conditions were dry under foot, and, I understand, rugged in places. At least, the recent overnight rain meant that the slower runners only departed in a minimal cloud of dust. The finish seemed a bit unexpected and confusing but didn't prevent some excitement there and I noticed Tony Kendrick putting in a determined finishing burst. It was refreshing to see first place in the men's race contested for once, with our own Shaun Egan among the contenders. Harvey Hiscock, Sarah Gordon, Sophie Coady and Rob Barlow did their best to confuse my timings but I managed to catch them all.
The array of cakes looked tempting, for the faster runners at any rate - did anyone sample the tiffin with mixed fruit and cherries?
